Some workshop pointers!
- Registration and continental breakfast is at 8am, so please plan on getting there around that time as we will start promptly at 8:30am.
- PLEASE bring a warm sweater (and/or small blanket- kidding!) as we can’t control the temperature and it can get cool (and then back to warm) so plan accordingly.
- If you are a member of the SC Guidance Counselors Association, you are asked to bring your $20 dues (check OR exact change)
- Attached you will find a map of the campus and parking pass that you should utilize
- We have once again updated our Clinician’s Directory, we will be having local clinicians speak, you are responsible for printing this booklet to have for the day if you wish, we will not have any available.
- Again, it is a full day so get there between 8am and 8:15am. Bring your enthusiasm and be prepared to network and soak in seeing and talking with your peers at this special guidance counselors day!

2015 IN-SERVICE INFORMATION- NJ System of Care Overview
I can’t believe it is November already, just the other day we saw everyone at the Columbus Day in-service! In following up on the System of Care overview presented by Barbara Miller, several people have requested an electronic copy of the Children’s System of Care chart (attached) showing who does what, so I have attached a copy for your use. Below is a recap and clarification of when it is appropriate to contact Psychiatric Emergency Services and when it is appropriate to contact PerformCare directly. I also included Barbara Miller’s contact details and cc’ed her in case you have questions for her or if you missed the training and need clarification.
Remember that the Education Partnership will come out to your school to share in more detail the System of Care and use of PerformCare services. Their presentations always assist schools in better knowledge of how to help youth in need of the System of Care services.
1. Children, youth and/or adults experiencing a psychiatric emergency – call 911 and get the individual to the hospital.
2. Children and youth experiencing family crisis – call PerformCare immediately – 877-652-7624 and request Mobile Response
3. Children and youth needing services to address behavioral and/or mental health issues, non-crisis – call PerformCare – 877-652-7624
(See the attached flyer which identifies some of the types of behaviors that your students may be experiencing with which PerformCare can help)
Education Partnership contact: Barbara C. Miller, Youth Services Coordinator, County of Sussex, Department of Human Services, Division of Community and Youth Services, One Spring Street, Newton, NJ 07860. (973) 940-5200x1380
Thanks for all you do! Hope you enjoyed the long weekend, Becky
